Basmah was born and raised in Saudi Arabia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in International Studies with focus in Communication and Media Sciences – Highlight of Courses: New Media, Photojournalism, Media Storytelling, Public Speaking & Persuasion, Web Design & Publishing from Zayed University, in United Arab Emirates. As part of her course work, she served as an intern at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Paris in the summer of 2016. Basmah holds a diploma of photography and digital filmmaking from New York Film Academy, in New York and a degree in English Language from Umm Al-Qura University, in Saudi Arabia.
