Leonard Stall is a media entrepreneur particularly active in the philanthropy and charity sectors.
He was behind the launch of Philanthropy Age magazine (philanthropyage.com), a grantee of the Gates Foundation, and is its Editor-in-Chief, as well as the How to do Good book (London Wall Publishing) and its global speaker tour.
Together with the CEO of social enterprise Insaan, he initiated and co-authored the International Code of Practice for Non-Profit Organizations published in June, a process managed by British Standards Institution.
Leonard is Chairman of Charity Futures, the charity sector think tank behind the Oxford Institute of Charity, opening at New College, Oxford University in Autumn 2023. (https://oxfordinstituteofcharity.org/about/).
As well as being a Director of Insaan (insaangroup.org), he is an Advisory Board member of both Rosalynn Carter’s Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism, and Alliance, the charity magazine (alliancemagazine.org). He is also the Chairman of Trustees of UK publishing body ACE (acecirculation.com), and a consultant to the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
In 2019 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from The University of Birmingham, where he did his Bachelor’s Degree and where he now sits on the Advisory Board of the university’s Institute of Global Innovation. He is a former Press Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge.
